European Testing

All conceivable objects and materials that come into contact with food - whether for consumption, storage or packaging, or production - are subject to the EU regulations. For Electrical kitchen appliances, they are widely used in our daily life, which especially needs to comply with the standard to assure people’s health.

Since different materials are used on different home kitchen appliances, the EU regulations will be followed up differently depending on its exact material.

The USA Testing

Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations (also known as 21 CFR) provides general provisions applicable to indirect food additives, which are common in kitchen appliances and other food contact materials in general, such as juicers, blenders, coffee makers, toasters, microwaves and so on.

The materials used in kitchen appliances must be generally recognized as safe for food, which is commonly referred to by manufacturers as ‘food grade’ or ‘FDA compliant’ materials. It covers only for the food contact material testing, not the products safety testing.
